Hey guys! School speeches are coming up in February, and I still have so much to do! But I don't mind it, unlike other people in my grade. Why does everyone hate speeches so much? I love writing them because if it's a topic that I feel passionately about, then I'll get to inform others on that topic so that they can understand more about it. For example, this year my speech topic is schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is an extremely severe and complex disease of the brain. It causes a person to lose touch with reality, so they may see or hear hallucinations and believe that it's real, or they'll have delusions that have no basis on reality. They can't tell the difference between what's real and what's not. There's no cure, and diagnosis is based upon the patients description of their symptoms, there's no physical test for it.
See? That's what I like about them. Being able to pick a topic that you love and sharing it with others. But that's where presenting comes in. Again, I love being able to talk about schizophrenia to help others understand it better, but I hate presenting. I'm always scared that I'll mess up or say a word wrong, and sometimes I do! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get over that fear if I want to get a good mark. I mean, I've been doing this since the 4th grade! That was 4 years ago. So I've done 4 speeches, and they haven't ended up in disaster so far!
Anyways, I have to go work on my speech!
