Hey guys!
I'm sure you've all heard of the Haiti earthquake, but what inspired me to blog about it was how severe it was and how it emotionally shook the whole world.
People are still dying on the streets, others are on their knees praying for help. Pregnant women are giving birth on the pavement and injured people are transported in wheel barrows to hurriedly set up field hospitals.
Although most buildings and stores are destroyed, people are rummaging through them grabbing anything they can. One man grabbed a large box of tampons and shouted "I've got no idea what this is, but I'm sure you can sell it!"
The Pan American Health Organization estimated around 50,000-100,000 people died in the 7.0-magnitude tremor, but many people are still dieing from the aftermath of the quake, and a reliable death toll may not come for weeks.
How could a country that started off with nothing, end up with less? It amazes me that Haitans are able to go through such a terrifying and devastating ordeal, and still manage to find hope for them and their country.
